He is 5'9" weight 185.Waistband too low for these of us with an athletic build !!!In pants, long johns and so on, I wear an XL. I ordered (2) of these and can't even wear them. The legs are sort of fine, but the upper will only go about half way up the hips, so they wont even cover your but, and I have a small butt.totally dissapointed and since I'd opened both because I was expecting to put them in my drawer, I'm out the "Return" option....Probably won't use these.My husband hates the cold and the tops work really well. He usually wears a Medium thermal bottom but these are very small....fit tight and a little short. Great product otherwise!!!The sizing from crotch to waist is slight. Shows butt crack when reaching and bending.i liked them but even xl too snug for me.gave to my wifeBeen a large for years but I've lost a lot of weight so for sure a large should have fit, ended up giving it to my wife and ordering extra large
